Are you a seasoned Mechanical Design Engineer looking to take full technical ownership of complex projects?

I am currently representing a leading multidisciplinary building services consultancy that is expanding its Dublin team. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the delivery of MEP designs for high-tech industrial, energy, and commercial facilities.

This is a strategic hire. My client needs someone who can manage the full project lifecycle—from concept to handover—while mentoring a team of junior engineers.

The Role

This position sits at the intersection of technical excellence and project leadership. You won't be designing the manufacturing equipment (process); rather, you will be responsible for the complex base-build and building services systems that allow these critical facilities to function.

You will be the technical lead for HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, and utilities design for sectors including Life Sciences, Food & Beverage, and Pharmaceuticals.

Key challenges you will handle:

• Technical Leadership: Leading MEP design on energy and industrial projects, ensuring compliance with CIBSE, ASHRAE, and EN standards.
• Specialised Environments: Designing for ATEX-classified environments, cleanrooms, and laboratories.
• Project Management: Operating with minimal input from senior management, you will coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and process stakeholders to deliver fully detailed tender packages.
• Mentorship: guiding junior and intermediate engineers, performing QA checks, and driving a culture of best practice.

About You

We are looking for a consultant, not just a contractor. You should have the commercial acumen to build strong client relationships and the technical depth to solve complex HVAC and utility problems.

Essential Requirements:

• Experience: 5+ years’ experience in Mechanical Building Services/MEP Design, specifically within a consultancy environment.
• Education: Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
• Sector Knowledge: Proven experience delivering industrial buildings (Pharma, MedTech, Manufacturing) or large-scale commercial developments.
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Navisworks and Bluebeam, with a working knowledge of ATEX directives.
• Location: You must currently be based in Ireland with full rights to work.

Chartered Engineer status is advantageous, but not essential if you have the right experience.
