We’re partnered with a leading building services engineering contractor with a strong presence across Ireland and Europe, to appoint a Senior BMS Engineer who will support delivery across a portfolio of high-spec commercial, industrial and mission-critical projects.
This is a technically focused, hands-on role with involvement across commissioning, system optimisation, and project delivery - with scope to contribute to design input and control strategies on projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Delivery
- Commissioning, software development, testing, and handover of BMS installations and upgrades
- Advanced fault-finding across BMS panels, field devices, and networked systems
- Delivery of maintenance, reactive works, and system upgrades
- Integration of third-party systems (e.g. BACnet, Modbus)
- Ensure systems operate in line with design intent and specifications
Project Support
- Work closely with the design team on control philosophies, system architecture, and functional design development, with increasing involvement in design responsibility over time.
- Review drawings, specifications, and control strategies
- Provide technical input to Project Managers and wider delivery teams
- Assist with site surveys and technical scoping
Mentoring & Standards
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on-site
- Promote best practice across commissioning and QA processes
- Identify risks/issues and escalate where required
- Support continuous improvement of engineering standards
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete commissioning records and handover documentation
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and H&S standards
- Maintain accurate records of works, changes, and issues
Client Interaction
- Interface with clients, site teams, and subcontractors
- Provide clear technical guidance and recommendations
- Support long-term client relationships through high-quality delivery
REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
- 5+ years’ experience in BMS engineering roles
- Strong experience with at least one major platform (Tridium / Cylon preferred)
- Proven commissioning and fault-finding experience
- Exposure to HVAC systems in commercial/industrial environments
- Knowledge of BMS protocols (BACnet, Modbus, etc.)
- Full driving licence
Desirable:
- Trade or third-level qualification (Automation, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.)
- Ability to read/interpret technical drawings (AutoCAD exposure beneficial)
- Experience in live environments / FM settings
- Manufacturer training or certifications
