Client-Side Project Manager – Data Centre (Low Voltage & Fiber)

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and meticulous Project Manager to join our dedicated data centre team. This is a client-side role where you will act as the Owner's Representative, embedded within a large-scale data centre construction project.

Your mission is to be the eyes and ears for our end client, ensuring that all Fiber Optic and low-voltage (LV) cabling installations are executed flawlessly by the appointed contractors. You will be the central point of contact for the client, protecting their interests and guaranteeing that the project meets the highest standards of quality, schedule, and budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Client Representation: Act as the primary technical liaison for the end client, translating complex technical details into clear, concise progress reports and recommendations.
• Contractor Oversight: Manage and supervise multiple installation contractors responsible for structured cabling, fiber-optics, BMS, security systems, and other low-voltage packages.
• Quality Assurance: Lead all QA/QC efforts for LV and fiber installations. This includes reviewing test reports (Fluke, OTDR), conducting physical site walks, managing snag lists, and ensuring strict adherence to design specifications and TIA/ISO/BICSI standards.
• Schedule & Risk Management: Proactively monitor contractor schedules, identify potential risks or delays, and develop mitigation strategies to keep the project on track.
• Technical Governance: Review and approve contractor submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), method statements, and change orders related to your packages.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Chair and attend regular project meetings, coordinating effectively with the General Contractor, design teams, and other trades to resolve clashes and ensure smooth project flow.
• Handover & Closeout: Oversee the final testing, commissioning, and handover of all cabling infrastructure, ensuring all documentation (as-builts, warranties, test results) is complete and accurate for the client.

About You (The Ideal Candidate)

• Experience: You have proven experience as a Project Manager overseeing large-scale, complex technical installations.
• Technical Expertise: You possess a strong technical understanding of structured cabling systems (Cat6/6A/7), Fiber Optics (SM/MM, MPO), and low-voltage systems (e.g., access control, CCTV, BMS).
• Environment: Prior experience in data centre or other mission-critical environments is essential.
• Perspective: You have experience in a client-facing, consultancy, or 'Owner's Representative' capacity. You understand the difference between managing a contractor and being the contractor.
• Certifications: Industry certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or BICSI RCDD are highly advantageous.
• Personal Attributes: You are meticulous, with an exceptional eye for detail. You are a natural communicator, a firm negotiator, and a proactive problem-solver who takes ownership.
